Thought on This Memorial Day
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Memorial Day together yesterday. I want to briefly share with you some thoughts on how I think about all our kids on Memorial Day.
Memorial Day, which was originally called Decoration Day, was a time in late may when the flowers were at their most flourishing stage. The graves of young American soldiers were decorated with these bright and immaculate flowers. To me flowers remind me of children. St. Mother Teresa once said, “How can there be too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers.”
The Memorial Day proclamation (36 U.S. Code § 116) calls for Americans to “unite in prayer for permanent peace,” and to pray “according to their individual religious faith.”An immeasurable amount of sacrifice has been made for us to simply enjoy the freedom to live in peace in order to grow our families, educate our children, work and play, and to serve others.
I am profoundly humbled for this opportunity to run for PYLUSD School Board, and to help positively form our childrens’ futures Thank you for your support in putting kids first!
